Comfortable base for a city trip in Rhayader! There was free parking. Red kite feeding, set within 5 minutes' walk, was the best for dining.
no complaints whatsoever with the hotel. it is not far from the airport. we loved the fact that we chose brynafon.
Interesting building. Lots of atmosphere Cheerful and competent staff.
The bar feels more like a caff.
The old charm of the Building and also the rooms were decorated nicely, (no flowery wall paper thank goodness!!)
Shame the breakfast is only served between 8 - 9.30, however the staff were very accommodating and we did enjoy some breakfast out in the sunny court yard.
A lovely place to stay. Extremely attentive staff and the owners were very helpful. We enjoyed dining in the restaurant both nights and the food was delicious. The history of Brynafon was very interesting, it is nice to read a little of how things were in the past. Thank you.
Very friendly & helpful staff - nothing was too much trouble. The best breakfast we have ever had & all food was of excellent quality, fresh local produce & good value, & well presented. The rooms, bar & dining room were charming & in a historic & unusual building. The location was wonderfull - surrounded by nature, Red Kites, trees & flowers. The large car park is also most useful, & would not be possible any closer to the town. The short walk into Rhayader along the river (just over the main road) is delightfull & comes out quite close to the walking & cycling route to the Elan Valley. The town itself is full of interesting old places & well worth exploring.
The view from the rear of the dining room could be improved by tidying up the bin area. A bit more dusting would have improved the room. Fresh peppercorns in small grinders would be an improvement on the tables. Otherwise it was generally excellent & we had no complaints of any kind.
Complements to the Chef.
The staff were very helpful and we had a good meal in the restaurant on Saturday. We would definitely stay there again when we return to Wales. We asked about a packed lunch and were advised that they were available but we did not place an order definitely the wrong decision later in the day when we had walked around the dams at Rhyader.
near to winter fair at builth warm cosy and welcoming
Staff were very friendly and as I was working away on business made me feel comfortable which is sometimes difficult as a woman staying alone
nothing ,although the food was a little pricey
The staff were very friendly. The room was clean and warm and well stocked with drink making facilities. We stayed bed and breakfast but eat in the restaurant every night, the menu was good and the food was superb. we will use the hotel again and would certainly recommend it.
Really nice large family run establishment. On the main road south of Rhayader, but its fairly quiet in the evenings, so traffic not as much of a issue as I'd feared. Lovely building, slightly ramshackle (in a nice way) and still being slowly upgraded towards something really quite posh. Excellent food, nice mix of relaxed approach, and something a little formal. Skies full of kites and buzzards - bit like being in Karachi if you look up. Elan valley superb for walking and fresh air. Staff excellent. Rooms excellent. Spent 3 days with 2 young kids, and felt very well looked after.
Nothing at all. Bookers should be aware that slightly out of town (10 minutes walk). Somewhere between a nice guesthouse and a country house hotel.
very friendly and unfailingly helpful staff - excellent beer
Friendly, helpful staff and the location of the hotal
The restaurant was well presented and the food was good.
It does not live up to the image presented on the web. Still very much a work in progress.
